There are no any bad people in this world but there
are people who make mistake out of ignorance.
International Bodhisattva Sangha (IBS) started the Prison Program since 1995. IBS was formally established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in November 2006. One of our main goals is to educate inmates in the state prisons about Buddhism, meditation, and the right way of life. Through Dharma education, many inmates found their inner peace and spiritual comfort.
As of mid-2017, IBS has been visiting 33 state prisons California, Oregon, Washington, and Ontario (Toronto, Canada). We are planning to setup 20 more dharma libraries for the rest of 2017. With the help of passionate supporters, IBS is planning to set up libraries in all 36 state prisons in California in the future.
IBS is a small organization, and all the funding comes from generous donations from our supporters. With your generous gift, we will have more opportunity to reach more inmates with our prison program, giving them strength and courage on their path in becoming a contributor to the community when they are released.

Up Coming Prison Event
It is an honor and a privilege to express our gratitude to everyone who has provided support for our newest prison library donation effort. We are blessed to have received approximately 1200 Dharma books from many generous individuals and organizations. I am grateful that so many people are taking part in this meaningful program. We will try our best to bring the Dharma to those inside the prison walls. This time we are setting up four more libraries in three different prisons. I can assure you that many practitioners in prison will benefit from your generosity. Master Hueiguang said, “It is not too late to educate inmates about Buddha Dharma, because they will be part of our society sooner or later.” We also received donations of $1720 dollars for this trip. We very much appreciate all your financial support, and will use the donations exclusively for the prison visitation program. I would like to thank all the volunteers who work behind the scenes. It is amazing that we can count on so many volunteers to make every program successful. Some volunteers submit our articles to newspapers, some do translating, some collect books, some send books, and some introduce our program to other supporters. The most incredible thing is, we don’t know most of the Bodhisattvas who are dedicating their time and energy to this effort. I don’t want to mention their names because they send messages telling me, “Please don’t put my name on the IBS Facebook page or in the newsletter.” They only want to contribute for the benefit of people in need, not for fame or recognition. It is our intention to serve as a bridge for everyone who wants to help those Buddhist practitioners in prison. They need our help. I hope that one day Buddha Dharma is available to everyone in the prison world. Again, thank you for your kind support.
