The Dharma Gives Me Courage
Today, Venerable Master Hueiguang and Dharma Master Huiyong conducted the novice ordination ceremony at the IBS Sramanera School of Nepal.
This marks the fifth novice ordination session at the school, with Zongbao serving as the leader among the 20 young novices taking their vows.
Most of these young novices come from remote mountain areas, with impoverished backgrounds; many are orphans who have lost their parents. The founding vision of Venerable Master Hueiguang in establishing the school was to use the teachings of the Dharma to educate and nurture these underprivileged children, helping them transform their lives at the very root.
Now in its eleventh year, the IBS Sramanera School has grown to care for 54 novices.
Watching Venerable Master Hueiguang today, with hair gradually turning gray, bent over as he personally shaved the young novices’ heads and offered their robes and alms bowls, I couldn’t help but be deeply moved to tears.
The journey has been unimaginably difficult.
Yet, Master Hueiguang continues forward with unwavering determination.
When asked, “Master, what makes you so courageous?”
Master Hueiguang replied, “It is the Dharma that gives me courage.
I am merely doing what I should be doing—accompanying them for part of their journey.”
