With deep gratitude for your compassionate protection and care, it is because of your kind donations that the International Bodhisattva Sangha (IBS) in Nepal has been able to conduct emergency relief in various disaster-stricken areas. As of now, we have completed the seventh relief operation.
Today, Master Hueiguang personally led the faculty and students of the IBS Sramanera School of Nepal, guided by Dr. Dil, to the heavily affected Bethanchowk area, using the campus of Ganesh Basic School as a temporary site for flood relief and assistance.
The disaster in this area is severe, with access roads almost entirely destroyed. Along the way, vehicles buried in sand could be seen. In this village, 400 households either had their homes collapse or were swept away by the floods, resulting in numerous casualties. Since all houses and belongings have been washed away, everyone we met wore expressions of deep sorrow.
Before the relief distribution, Master Hueiguang led the novices in chanting sutras to bless the villagers, comforting their still terrified and wounded hearts. He also gave a Dharma talk, reminding them that since this is the homeland of Shakyamuni Buddha, it receives love from all over the world.
Venerable Master Hueiguang told the villagers, “The purpose of our life is to seek happiness, but true happiness does not come from external material things. The Buddha taught us that happiness comes from our hearts. Only when we have love in our hearts, when we are internally rich and fulfilled, and when we can share and form good connections with those around us, will happiness manifest.”
In another location, Dr. Piya, a practitioner from the International Bodhisattva Sangha (IBS), was also near the banks of the Bagmati River, close to the Kathmandu airport, providing meals to 150 flood victims who had become homeless due to the disaster. One flood has caused so much suffering in the world.
Once again, we offer our deepest gratitude for your noble support!
